Dear Parent/Carer,

I am very sorry to have to let you know that due to the further rise in forecast morning temperatures since the end of the day on Friday, and following a site visit this morning, we have had to take the decision to cancel Sports Day.

We will instead have a shortened day at school to allow the students to return home before the heat reaches the unusually high levels after midday.

Students should arrive from 8.40 in time for registration at 8.50am.  We will run some classroom-based sports-themed activities and students will be dismissed at 12pm.

Parents are be reminded that students should be carrying water bottles, use sun-protection / hat etc and should wear sports uniform on Monday.  Students should bring a morning snack as there will not be the usual café service.

If parents feel that their child faces particular individual health risks and is therefore being kept at home, this must be communicated to the school before 8.45am as with any other school absence so that it can be authorised. In this context, parents are reminded that students must stay safely indoors. We regret that we are not able to provide remote lessons but remind parents that resources are available on Copia and students can use the time to undertake review/catch-up post-Q4 exams.

Best wishes

Mr Bedford & Dame Alice Hudson
