Following a public consultation that took place last Autumn, the Department for Education’s London Advisory Board has approved Ealing Fields’ application to be designated as a Church of England faith school.

The legal change will take place by September 2025. However, the Governors wish to give reassurance that this change is simply about being transparent as to who we are and not about making operational changes to our policies.

Very specifically:

  • There will be no change to the admissions policy to include a faith element either now or in the future
  • There will be no change to the way in which we recruit staff
  • There will only be the addition of an option to take communion once a year as part of the celebration service students already participate in
  • We completely recognise, and agree with, the parental desire to remain committed to being an inclusive and diverse school

The school’s curriculum, described as “highly ambitious” by Ofsted, will continue. We will still be funded in the same way.

Thank you to all of you who shared your views as part of the consultation. While the feedback was very supportive, we acknowledge that a range of views was shared. What was clear is that Ealing Fields is a school that means a great deal to a huge number of people, and that is something that we only ever want to build upon.
